Smoking tobacco products kills approximately 4,500 to 5,000 New Zealanders every year. That is around 13 deaths every day caused by smoking or exposure to second-hand smoke.

In 2015, Hastings District and Napier City Councils introduced a joint Smokefree Policy to support the government’s goal of a Smokefree Aotearoa New Zealand by 2025.

To achieve this goal the government has launched a new national Action Plan.

Tell us how we are doing and what we need to consider, especially around smokefree and vapefree areas.
